Guestmudgeon Robert has some issues...er...problems

Nobody has problems any more, they all have issues. An issue is something like gun control or stem cell research. People can have different opinions and views about issues. The announcer for a NASCAR race said the driver was having brake issues. No, he didn't. Since the pedal was going all the way to the floor, he was having brake problems. I don't think there is an opposing side to being unable to stop when you are going 190 mph. The weather man said the people in the low lying area were experiencing flooding issues. No, since the water was up to the second floor, they had problems. It would be hard to find someone to debate the fact that the property owners were experiencing a flood.

Just listen and read - problems are passé, issues are "in".
