Guestmudgeon Riflaum is hurtling over hurdles

I have to comment on an article called "Cyber Age's Impact on Information," from the June, 2002 USA Today. The article contained the following sentence:

As the Cyber Age gains momentum, we are hurdling toward even greater changes.

It's hurtling! Ordinarily I wouldn't have gotten quite so worked up about this, but USA Today is a popular, successful magazine. I would have thought it could afford to hire editors.
